THE WORKERS' VIEW.
The "Weekly Herald," which is the official organ of the Labour Party in Wellington, (has the following concerning the acceptance of a Baronetcy iby Sir Joseph Ward: — Why worry (about haublos ? Are they not an indication of degeneracy? Looking up the term 'Baron' in Encyclopaedia Brittanica, we learn thus:—"The origin and primary import of this term (Baron) have been. much, contested. Menage derives it from the Latin 'baro,' a word which we find used in classical Latin, to sigaiify 'a simple' or 'foolish man.' Another form of tlie same word appears to be 'varo,' to which. Lucilius gives the meaning, 'a stupid man,' 'a blockhead,' Forceliini observing that its primary sense is a 'block of tough, hard wood." Very appropriate, we should say, this Barony of Awarua. He is a blockhead wlio expects the support of the workers after having introduced a string, of titles to his Cabinet.
