TARANAKI OJL. NEW PLYMOUTH, l,as[ Night, The No. 3 bore of tlio Taranaki Petroleum Company ar Aloturoa is mow drilled to a depth: of 4015 feet. The original intention was to drill to 4000 feet. The Directors are now taking steps to test the deposits of oil at this depth, and to-day purchased from the Standard Oil Company 3-500 feet of two-inch casing in a complete pumping plant. This casing will be placed in the well, and the oil allowed to flow. It has been flowing for some time between the casings in fairly good quantities, and in about a week it will be seen what the well is going to be capable of. Oil still flows sat-. isfactorily at No. 2 Bore, the quantity being well up to the usual average. A PICTURE THEATRE. NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. Negotiations have now been- concluded for the purchase of a ceatral site for the erection of a picture theatre in ferro concrete for Mr Garnet Saunders, who has been running! the picture business here for over a year. There are now two permanent picture show,s, but Saunders is in temporary premises. It is estimated that the new building will cost £2500. SIR JAMES CARROLL KOPGFUL. OEBISTOHURCH, Last Night.
