Inspector Ellison, of the Police Department, was a visitor to Masterton last night. ' Palmerstoil papers report the death of Mrs C. Mitchell, a-very old resident of Palirerston North. The de* ceased was a daughter of the late Mr T. Goodison, and had resided in Palmerston North for 36 yer-vs. Sir James Carroll informed a Dunedin reporter that Sir Williani Hall-' Jones' term as High Commissioner had been extended to August 31. The. death is announced from Onga OngA, Hawke's Bay, of Mrs Margaret WalkW, wife of Mr George Walker. Mr Alex. McFarlane, Chairman of directors of the Ballance Dairy Company, and a member of the Wellington Harbour Board, was a'visitor to Masterton yesterday. -' ' . Probate in the will of. Lucy Allen Anderson, late of Ballarat, Victoria, and formerly of Wairarapa, was gi-anted in the Supreme Court at Wei-, ington on Tuesday. Mr C. A. Pownali, solicitor, of Masterton, is appearing before the ArbJtratidn Court at Wellington in; a case in which the Trustees of, the late Mir 1 Alex. McHutchon, of Whakataki, are. concerned. Mr C. A. Poulsen, of the literary staff of our evening contemporary, has. reeeived'an appointment-on of theManawatu'Stariaard. ' # Mr Pbulsen's departure from Masterton will bo regretted by a wide . circle of friends. Mr T. Wagg, of Maserton, who, has-, been, oil -a: wasexpeetefl to^returnto by the steamer Warrimoo yesterday. A Palnv-rston North telegram, announces the death of Mr John Sanson, an old and respected resident of Glen Oroua, at the age* of 50 years. His' father was one of the founders of the township of Sanson. The death occurred at St. Bride's Convent, Masterton, yesterday morh"ing, of Sister Mary Michael, after a protracted illness. The deceased had been residing in Masterton for a period of about ten years. She had endeared herself, by her fine qualities, to the whole of the pupils of the school, arid to a large circle of friends,. • The remains, will in the Mastierton afternoon. ' The death is announced Hrf Mrs Nabbs, "girl* . born in the Auckland, province. fSfife-; ' was born in a raupo whare, and Lady Hopsori personally interested herself in the welfare of the, child, who-was-baptised in a raupo church, the forerunner of the present St. Paul's. Mfe Nabbs was a widow for the second time, and when her death occurred was living with her daughter at Pir-i ongiu, County Waipa, Auckland.
