WAIRARAPA v. POVERTY BAY. / y WIN FOR WAIRARAPA. (By Telegraph—Special to the Age.) HASTINGS, Last Night. The Waararapa senior representative hockey team beat Poverty Bay by three goals to two, a-fiar a fast and exciting game. Gisborne started pressing for a time, then Wairarapa started a good rush, which was well saved. Hatch made several good runs 1 , hut his shooting was faulty. Gisborne attacked strongly, but Williams saved well. From close play near the circle the ball was passed tp. Race, who scored for Gisborne. Tlhe half time whistle then sounded. ....-'". On resuming,, a good rash was made by Wairarapa, but a penality' hit was awarded for offisido, and thus the chance was spoiled. From a. free hit the ball was well fielded! and passed to Read, who made the score even. The pace was fast and furious. From a fast rush- Tunniclifre scored for Wairarapa. Gisiborne evened the score soon after, Rice scoring an excellent goal. A few minutes beijo-re time a great rush by Wairarapa resulted in Tnnnicliffe scoring amidst great enthusiasm. In the next few minutes Gisborne made repeated attacks without success. Tlhe winners played well together. There was better combination among the forwards, Williams and Morgan played a good game for the winners. The Gisborne forwards did not charge their opponents nor hook their sticks. Once they were Wat-en for the ball they would not re«over it.
