MASTERTON'S CELEBRATIONS.

AN UNPROMISINC OUTLOOK. The outlook for the Coronation celebrations in Masterton are by no ■means (bright. A thunderstorm which ibroke over the town early last evening was succeeded 'by a steady downpour of rain, and at a. lata hour last might there was no indication of the weather clearing. Should it break, however, the original programme (as already published) will ibe earned through. In the event of lit raining, however, as it .seerns probable, a demonstration will he held in the Town Hall at - about two o'clock. The stage will be occupied by the choir and speakers, and the front seats in the hall by school ichildren. The Oadets will line the -walls, of the Hall, and the Territorials, will take up a position round the circle. An effort- will be made to get off the torchlight procession in the evening, which, .will be followed by a concert in the Town Hall. The Masterton Post 'Office has been decorated with bunting lor the occasion. A gaslight illumination TraMl also be made tikis evening. In the front of ihe building is a large coat-of-arms, and the words in large lettars "Giod Save, the King." Several of. the ■ local business houses ', are' decorated w"ith' bunting, and the town Jias a gala appearance. A'.number of • bonfires* are to be lighted on the hills surrounding Masterton to-night.
