Mr G. R. Sykes left Masterton for Palmerston North yesterday, to attend the first annual' meeting of the Lincoln Sheep Breeders' Association, of which he is the interim Secretary. The Hawera Star announces the death of Dr. G. H. Brown, of Hawera. He had not been very well for some little time but the progress of the disease from which he was suffering was at) the last rapid, and he passed away early on Sunday morning. He leaves a widow and two children. Mr Arthur H. Vile has already been nominated for re-election to the Wellington Education Board by the Hukanui, Lansdowne, Ihuraua Valley, Greytown, and Belvedere School Committees. Mr R. Buxton, late of Masterton, and now local representative for the Vacuum Oil Company, Palmerston North, has received notice of his transfer to Oluistohurch. The many friends of Mr' James Hanley, one of the oldest and most respected platelayers on the Masterj ton section of railway, will regret to hear that he was seized wwtih a sudden fainting fit while at work yesterday j and was taken to his. home in. a rather serious condition.
