RAILWAY FREIGHTS.
ON HARDWOOD TIMBERS. At the meeting of the Masterton County Council yesterday, a circular letter wais read* from the Stratford County Council, asking the ©o-opera-tdon'of the Council in a request to the Minister for Railways for the removal of the charge of rate and a-half-on hardwood timbers used in the construction of County bridges •and culverts. Or Murray moved that this Council endorse the resolution of the Stratford County. Cr Welch seconded the resolution, stating that he had always been of opinion that'the use of hard-woods for County bridges and culverts should be encouraged. The resolution, was carried unanimously.
