EXCELSIOR (1) v. ST. MATTHEW'S (0). Excelsior defeated St. Matthew's by one goal,to nil, after an exciting game. In the first half the game was very even, but in the second half Excelsior, as they invariably do, livened'up and made the game very fast. Untrue shooting was noticeable, but the rough state of the ground was largely, responsible for this. The St. Matthew's forwards, headed by McGregor and Hatch, got away occasionally, and were at times dangerous, but in spite,of their hard work, Excelsior had the best of the game. .The only goal was cleverly scored by A. Williams in the second half. Thynne was again the pick of the Excelsior' backs.. Nicol also played well, and Williams and Ashley were the best of the forwards. Of the St. Matthew's backs, Boyd and Hendry did good work, while the best forwards were Hatch, Ball, and McGregor. Mr Fisher was referee. '.*■■ P. AND T. (3) v. MASTBRTON (0). Post and Telegraph secured a win by three goals, all of which were scored in the first half, to nil. The winners had the game practically their own way until after half time, when Masterton made several attempts to isoore, but they could not pass the full backs. The goals were scored by R. Williams, Richards, and Loader, all of whom put in some good work. Rue and Frasax were the mainstay of the Masterton forwards. The backs, were fairly weak, with the exception of one or two players, such as P. Eraser and Gray. (Mr F. Rosson gave every satisfaction as ref- | eree.
