The Northern Union League match between Napier and Dannevirke representatives was played here on ! Saturday afternoon, and resulted in 1 a win for Napier by fifteen points j to £wo. j TOURNAMENT AT TIMARU. ! (By Telegraph—Press Association.) i TIMARU, Last Night. Beautiful weather favoured the holiday. The only public amusement was a seven-a-side football tournament. TJie gate (£75) was a record. There were many entries, and good . competition. Finals : Senior : Albion' (Cirri st church)beat Zingari (Timaru). Second grade: Southern Cross (Asbburton) beat Athletic I (Temuka) after fivespells. Thirds: Stars-Pirates beat Albion s. Fourth: Zingari beat Sta.r-Pirates. . WAIRARAPA FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' TOURNAMENT. The annual Wairarapa Friendly Societies' seven-a-side football tournament took place on Saturday, on the old Showgrounds, Masterton. The games were started well up to time, before a good attendance if the public, who were treated to the best exhibition of Rugby vet giver, by Wairarapa players. Altogether 56 players took part, and with the exception of the first game, invvr!hichthe Carterton Druids No.-2 defeated Hibernians No. 2 rather easily, i'l the games were closely contested. The management a,re to be, congratulated on the prompt manner in which the teams took the field. Tin Carterton Druids No. 1 team again won. the Shield, which makes the third tiihe v in which they have taken it away from Masterton. The following is the result: — First round.— Druids. (Gartertoi') No. 2 beat .Hibernians No. 2; Oddfellows beat 'Druids (Masterton) No. 1; Foresters beat Druids ('Masterton) No. 2; Druids (Carterton) No. 1 beat Hibernians No. 1. Second round.— Oddfellows beat Druids (Carterton) No. 2; Druids (Carterton) No. 1 beat Foresters. Final.— Druids (Carterton) No. 1 beat Oddfellows, and won the Shield.

Messrs Mackellar and Chapman ' controlled the games. A smoke social took place in the wetting at the, Foresters' Hall, Bro. Smith (Odidlelfows) in the chair. "Referees," .Bio. Pickering, responded to by Bro. Chapman. Sottgs and recitations were given by Bros. Spratt, O'Resran, Chapman, Ewing•tn, Murpdiy, Hooper, C. Reid, Elder, and Gourlay. Bro. Fnirhrother (Carterton) presided at the piano. An enjoyable evening wins brought to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
