NOTIFICATIONS OF DISMISSAL.
WELLINGTON, Last Night. . As a result of the recent re-itrial of ex-Oaptain Knyvett, late officer commanding No. 1' Company of the Auckland LHvision of the N.Z. Garrison Artillery, it is announced in the "Gazette* of to-night that the sentence of dismissal which was passed on him on- May 10th lor "conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline, has been confirmed by the Governor and is to take effect as from December 31st, 1909. . , A further notification in, the Gazette" intimates that in view of the excellent previous record in the .Defence Force of ex-Oaptaan Knyvett, His Excellency will, on the recommendation of the General Officer Commanding, favourably consider an application by the dismissed omcer to be posted on the reserve oi «>fficer,s s provided such application- be accompanied by an ample apology ifor and a retraction of the letter•wdiich was'the. cause of the whole-.in : quiry. The dismissal of ex-Captain. .Charles Thomas Mils, late oi the 11th Regiment (Taranaki lWez) which took effect from April 2<th last, is also Gazetted. There is a .similar notification respecting tlie readiness to favourably consider an application to be posted on the reserve, as in the wise of ex-Captawi Knyvett. The application, here is to be accompnnitHl by n.n ample apology for and retraction of the letter instigated by ex-Captain Mills, which was the cause of bis dismissal.
