CARTERTON,
The public .swimming baths recently erected here were formally handed over to the Borough Council on Tuesday evening, by a commiite who acted on behalf of the citizens instrumental in their construction. The balance sheet of the project showed that a total sum of £351 4s 8d was raised, including a grant of £IOO from the Borough Council. Mr John Knowles, of Matarawa, accompanied by several members of his ifamily, intends spending a holiday in the Canterbury district. Mr Knowles landed in that district when he first came out to New Zealand many years ago.
At a meeting of the Ministers of religion in Carterton on Tuesday afternoon, it was decided to hold a' united service in Carrington Park at 11 o'clock on Coronation Day, and should the weather be wet, the service will be held in Victoria Hall.
