MASTERTON'S ANNIVERSARY.
Th© 'anniversary of Masterton, which is to foe commemorated to-morrow, isuggesttis the propriety of doing something to place oil record th© magnificent services of that noble (band of' pioneers who, at great personal sacrifice and the risk of their lives, laid the foundation® oi what is destined to become one of the nuostfc ianpontant township® in the Dominion. Mast of that noble bain|d> luave crossed the Ibar. They have gone to their reward. Are their mmeis and their works to be obliterated by the process of time? Or, shall their memory be kept green, that future generations may know to whom they are indebted for the splendid educational «,nd other facilities provided? Why should the Trust Lands Trust, with the aid of private subiscriptiorajs, not plaice a tablet in the Town Hall, or in Bome other public place, . containing the names of the founder® of the town? It i» only a small thing in its way. But it would show that .tihe present generation, at anyrate, is not forgetful of the heroic deeds of their forefathers.
