LIFE-SAVING.

PRESENTATION OF AWARDS. 1 Prior to the commencement of the business of the annual meeting of the Masterton Y.M.C.A. last night, Miss C. Easthope, secretary of the ladies' life-saving class, read a short report on the season's work. The report stated that the Examination which was held on March 16th, was a hug# success, the Society gaining 27 awards, which is excellent consider in g that the largest club in Wellington has only seven awards. Misses Evelyn Waddington and Annie O'Leary have secured the Royal Life Saving Society's and Miss Ella O'Leary a proficiency certificate. Mass Annie O'Leary was also successful in procuring the Award of Merit, which is splendid indeed, considering that she is only fifteen years of age, and the youngest person in the Dominion to gain the award. The club is also noticeable for having the /youngest proficiency certificate holder, Miss Ella O'Leary, twelve years old, and the youngest pupil, Miss Ohrissie Peters, eight, years old, to take a life-saving award of any description in the Dominion. In conclusion, Miss Easthope thanked Mr Snowball for Ins untiring work as Instructor of the classes. Mr P. L.
