FOREIGN OFFICE ENQUIRY. M. HAMON'S ADMISSIONS. (Received May 1, 9 a.m.) PARIS, April 30. In connection with alleged financial and administrative irregularities in the cash accountancy department of the French Foreign Office, into which a searching enquiry was recently held, and as a result of which M. Hamon, Director of the Accounts Department, was suspended, Hamon admits misappropriating moneys. He pleads that the system has long been recognised in the Foreign Office, and that several officials are drawing increased pensions as the result of the falsification of decrees, promoting them to higher grades.
