The Rev. A. Hodge report c".—• The rainfall at 9 a.m. on May Ist for the previous 24 hours was 0.12 inches. The total rainfall for the month is 288 points, nearly 3 inches having fallen on 17 days. Tli® heaviest fall was. on the 24th, when 0.55 inches fell. The total fall on the previous month was only 0.23 inches, falling on Six days. The highest' shade temperature lor the month was 81.3 deg., and the lowest 36 deg. The lowest temperature at the surface was 27.9, deg., the first frost for the season, which occurred' on Sunday night. The earth temperature (Ift) has slowly fallen from 65 deg. to 57.2 deg. In future the observations will be taken at 6 p.m. instead of at 9 a.m., to suit local circumstances. ' '
Mr J. C. Boddiington reports that rain fell on 17 day« in April, at the Upper Plain. The maximum fall in 24 hours was 62 points, registered on the 25th, and the minimum 2 points on the 26th. The total for the month was 3.15 inches. The average for the previous 7 years is 2.71 inches. s The aggregate for the past four months was 12.32 inches; and the average for the corresponding period 12.67 inches.
