tHOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.

The Foresters' Hall was well filled last night, when an excellent change | of programme was submitted. The American Biograph Company and the Vitagraph Company, whose films ar» stf popular with Masterton audiences, are well represented:, there being several films by these companies. "Billy's Bible" is a soul-stirring military drama, founded on fact, and striking deep into the true spirit of the day. What is claimed to be Pathe Frere's greatest coloured picture, "Ruth and Boaz," was a magnificent Biblical study which found much : favour. Another splendid coloured; study placed before- the audience, the famous Mountain passes of New Zealand, met with much appreciation. This is also a Pathe Freres film,' and the first coloured picture of New Zealand mountain scenery ever shown in tlie Dominion. "Winning Back His Love" was & de» lightful A.B. drama, while "Stocking a Zoo" was of educational value. Two Vitagraph comedies, . "Captain Barnacle's Chaperon" and "The Tale of a Hat," and an A.B. comedy, "After the Ball," created roars of laughter. "Winter Sports at St. Maritz ®howß the great pleasure with the inhabitants of colder regions derive from skating, tobogganing, and games on snow-covered ground. Several other interesting films were shown. The programme will be repeated this evening.
