CONCILIATION COUNCIL. IN MASTERTON.

A sitting of the Conciliation Council was held in ihe MastertonvCourthouse yesterday afternoon, to hear further evidemse concerning the proposed new award in connection with the Stationary, Traction, and Locomotive Engine-drivers. The Council consisted, of Mr P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, (chairman), ]V r «F,Brs Chas. Jkwrber and 0. W. Read, assessors for the Enginedrivers' Union, and Messrs C. E. Daniell, G. Herfin,,.and €. :H..Croll, assessors for the employers. The point at issue was whether preference to Unionists should -be .given traction engine drivers in the couhtry districts. After hearing evidence, it was decided to recommend that preference be not granted. This was the only business before the Council. <•
