'———♦•- — : The Commandant of the Forces, Colonel Godley, in a recent speech, said he wished fx) remove some erroneous impressions which existed regarding the territprial movement. "The report that the new scheme was antagonistic to rifle clubs was a fallacy. The idea was that rifle clubs should riiake themselves efficient from a military point of view. He thought the objection of employers and employees to the scheme could easily be got over by c6mmon r sense, • measures with reference to training, and that the scheme as a' whole would not be as-formidable as it looked on paper. He appealed to the public to support rthe movement, reminding th<?m that he and his staff were hem at th? invitation of the Government to carry out. the, wishes of the and he asked them to accord their generous support and thus assist the movement 1 that th?r had inaugurated.
