BOROUGH ELECTION.

The burgesses of Masterton are to be congratulated upon the interest they manifested in yesterday's election. The poll was, all things being considered, a very satisfactory one, ) and th© election was conducted in J the very best of spirit. This is as

it should be. The defeated candidates were by no means dishonoured, and one or more of them will probably find a seat on the Council at a future period. Meanwhile, the Council should steadfastly pursue a course which will make for the progress and development of the town.
