THE STREET LOAN.

+ The ratepayers of Masterton have rejected the proposal to raise a loan for a connecting street between Queen and Chapel Streets. The responsibility for the rejection is entirely their own. The cause which contributed to the defeat of the proposal was the peculiar nature of the undertaking. A great many people were of the opinion that the work was not as urgent as drainage extension and other projects. The undertaking, though important, has been deferred, and it looks as though its fate were sealed.
