HASTWELLS.
At a large meeting of residents on the 15th inst., it was decided to erect a public hall at Hastwell, on a site kindly given by Mr P. Halberg. Considerably over £IOO was promised in the room, and the building is to be Commenced immediately. Mr O. Isakson was appointed chairman, and Mr F. W. Gregory secretary and treasurer. A cricket match will be played at Hastwell with Maurioeville West, at the end of the week, and this will be the last one of the season. The club, which has only lately been formed, has won four matches and lost two. On Saturday, the 15th inst., it was decided to form a. Football Club. About twenty members have joined. Mr E. Buckeridge has been elected captain, and Mr F. Gregory secretary and treasurer. J Mr Fleming, the chief inspector, recently visited the school, and lias reported very favourably. Mr Gregory, the headmaster, has obtained a Hazard target and rifle. Hyloplate is to be placed in each room, - the committee bearing half the cost. A very welcome rain has been falling for the last fe wdays. About two inches were registered last week.
