STEAMER STRIKES A ROCK.
PASSENGERS SAVED

VANCOUVER, April 24. The steamer Asia, belonging to the Pacific Mail Company, and which has been running between San Francisco and ports in the Orient, struck on a rock 200 miles "south of Shanghai, and sank. The passengers were saved, assistance being secured by wireless telegraphy. VESSEL FOUNDERS IN A TYPHOON. FIFTEEN PERSONS DROWNED. (Received April 25, 2.5 p.m.) VANCOUVER, April 24. At Manila, the steamer Charles Poisat foundered in a typhoon. Fifteen on board were drowned.
