The resignations of Mr F. Morgan as assistant in tho secondary department at the Carterton District High School, and of Miss E. Thompson, as assistant at Kaiparoro school, were yesterday accepted by the Wellington Education Board.

Mr Charles E. Fisher, an old resident of Wellington, died suddenly in Hill Street on Monday afternoon. As he was returning to his homo in Tinakori Road at 5 o'clock he fell forward, striking his head on the footpath. Dr Young was summoned, but found that Mr Fisher was dead.

Tho death occurred in Masterton last night, of Miss • Evelyn Grace Briden. daughter of Mr J. C. Briden, of Hall Street, Masterton, at the age of 21 years. Some two months ago deceased contracted rheumatic: fever, since when several complications set in. The late Miss Briden was a very popular member of the Huia Hockey Club, and was highly esteemed by a large circle of friends. She had been a resident of this town for about twelve years.
