MAURICEVILLE EAST.
The monthly meeting of the Social Club was held in the hall on Monday night. After a warm discussion on a matter pertaining to the constitution of the club, it was decided that a committee should select a piece for staging at an early date. Mr W. Fisher was the winner of the silver tea tray, being the most successful in the recent shooting competition with the Hazard target. To-night a handicap shoot of four competitions will be commenced, the highest aggregate to win.
There was a good attendance of members at a general meeting of the County Cricket Club, held in Mr Goodgame's Hall on Tuesday night. Mr R. Brooks, Vice-President, occupied the chair. Mr Coombs, in resigning the position of secretary, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for the able and energetic manner in which he carried out the arduous duties attached to his office Mr G Braggins was elected secretary for the next season. It was decided to hold a social and dance on tho 19th inst. The varies trophies presented to the club will be awarded on that occasion. The question of forming a cricket association north of Masterton was held in abeyance.
