FIRE IN PAHIATUA.
A BOARDING-HOUSE DESTROYED. PAHL4TUA, Last Night, A fire, which occurred at 2 o'clock this morning, destroyed a two-storey building of eighteen rooms, .used as a boarding-house, and known as the Coffee Palace. The lire had obtained a good' grip when discovered, and the inmates escaped in their night attire., . Nothing was saved, and the building was burnt to the ground. . The flight was perfectly calm, and the brigade was abl? to save the adjoining houses. The building was owned by Mr Jacob Siemonek, of Mas* eft or, and occupied by Mrs Mackay. The insurances on the Coffee Palace are:— Building,.£6oo in the New Zealand office; furniture £350 in the same office. The owner is :t portion of the latter risk.
