CARTERTON.
Mr N. Halse, teller at the local branch of the Bank of New South Wales, is at present absent on a month's holiday leave, which he is spending in Sydney,
Enthusiasts in boxing and interested in the Carterton Centre, held a mreting on Monday evening, when some twenty-one names were handed in for membership, and a committee' was appointed to. arrange for the use of the Fire Brigade Hall. It was ako resolved to endeavour to obtain "the use of the gymnasium, Mr A. P. Whatman expressing the opinion that if it could be floored it would be the l>cv-t room in the Wairarapa district. As an incentive to get a floor put down, he would willingly give a donation of £2O for this purpose. The fee was fixed at £2 2s for the season, and £1 Is for honorary members. Mr T. H. Hughes was elected secretary and treasurer. The classes are to
start next week. A team of cricketers from Carterton will visit Mangatainoka during the Easter Holidays, and play a game with a team there. The visitors will comprise:— McKenzie, Churchill, Lindop, Phelps, Williams, Beard, AValker (2), Smith and Fair brother. Four rinks of bowlers from the Carterton Club will visit the Hutt on Easter Saturday to play the local Club. An Easter tournament will take place on the Carterton green. Mr W. Redmond has donated two guineas to e funds of the Carterton Football Club.
