INFECTED SHEEP.
j SEVERAL FINES IMPOSED. In the Magistrate's Court at Masterton yesterday, before Mr L. G. Reid, S.M., James McCardle was charged with having exposed for sale J sheep infected with lice in the Solway ! salevards.
Mr Hubbard, Inspector of Stock, stated that when it was pointed out to the owner, lie admitted that his sheep wero infected. Mr Hubbard stated that •\censed"Was a dealer, who, like others, bought sheep and drove them from place to placo until eventually sold, without attempting to dip them. A fine of 40s and costs 7s was imposed. A similar ' charge wes preferred against John Hughes. Mr Cullen stated that the siieen had been selected and driven from Newman, and had evidently become in the alleged condition on the-wav. Mr Hubbard stated tlidt that did not affect the case. Owners should inspect their sheep before they offered them. His Worship imposed a similai fine as in the previous case, with costs 12s. Mr. Hubbard also proceeded against Joseph \ 7 ictor, who pleaded guilty. He was also fined 40s, and costs 7s. A charge similar to the previous three was preferred against Harry E. Gosnell, who was dealt with in the same manner as the others, with costs
