CONCERNING A HORSE.
A QUESTION OF OWNERSHIP, Samuel Thomas Carroll claimed from, John Culloty, at the Masterton ] Magistrate's Court yesterday, the re- ; turn of a bay mare, or, in default, £2O, being the value of the animal. Mr C. A. Pownall appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr G. H. Cullen for | the defendant. •F. W. H. Summer, sheep-farmer, stated that he sold the mare in question (Wild Rose) for £2O, and Mrs Carroll paid the amount with two cheques of £lO each. Witness was under the impression that the horse was for the plaintiff. By Mr Cullen: Mrs Carroll was in the habit of managing the business affairs of the family. Mr Pownall applied for an ady jrnment of the case until May 4th, on account of one of his witnesses being indisposed. The adjournment was allowed.
