RECIPROCITY.

CANADA AND THE UNITED STATES.

(Received April 6, 9.12 a.m.) WASHINGTON, April 5. • President Taft announces the abandonment of the projected Tariff Commission measure in order to free Congress and enable it to deal solely with the Canadian Reciprocity Bill. The Democrats have decided to urge forward the Tariff Revision Bill, which the Senate strongly opposes, and they declare that they will withhold the Reciprocity Agreement unless the Senate agrees to Tariff revision. A deadlock is probable, and the chances of Reciprocity are not considered very bright. Mr Taft, in his message, urges the ratification of the Reciprocity Agreement.
