BEAUTIFYING THE PARK.
A QUESTION OF SUBSIDY,
At last night's meeting of the Masterton Borough Council, a letter wa> received from the secretary of the Park Beautifying Committee, enclosing copies of three resolutions adopted by his committee, and forwarding a cheque for £IOO and one for £2O 8s lid, being the full amount of the money raised for Park beautifying purposes. The resolutions were to the effect that £IOO be handed; to the Borough Council to hold for twelve months in order that it might be added to, that £2O odd be used for certain necessary ..works in tlio Park, and that the Borough Council draw up a plan of the Park, to be consulted for the purpose of laying down' schemes for beautifying of the reserve.
Cr Ewington did not agree to the holding over of the K;c?Qey for twelve months. He stated that there were many things that might be done immediately with the £IOO. The Acting Town Clerk was instructed to. make inquiries concerning the matter.
