PAHIATUA STOCK SALE
Messrs Abraham /and Williams, Ltd., report as follows: — "vVe offered a fair yarding of sheep and cattle to a medium attendance, Most classes of sheep were hard to quit, although we made a fair clearance, and the demand for lambs showed considerable improvement. Practi- i cully all, the.cattle were sold at good .prices. -Quotations.— Two-tooth ewes, 12s; fair mixed aged ewes, Bs--6d to 10s; full-mouth ewe-; 4s 6d to 6s od; cull, ewes, 2s 4d to 3s 6d; 2Jyr steers, £4 is 6d; 18-month steers, £3 9s 6d; fat cows, ai4. Los to £5 7s 6d; forward conditioned cows, £4 to £4 /7s 6d;,'.store,cows,- 27s ,6d to £3 6s; springing heifers, £5 12s ',6 d; heifers in calf,' £3 12s 6d to £4 /•3sj empty heifers, £2 19s (id; weaners, 17s to 30s; bulls, 37s 6d to £3 ss. Messrs Dalgety. and Co., Ltd., report having held their weekly stock sale in their Mangahno Yards on the 28th inst., when they offered a good yarding of sheep and cattle to a fair attendance, with the result that competition was keen. We are able to report, almost a total clearance at prices well up to late market rates. We quote:— 3 to oyr old Lincoln ewes to 12s; 4 and oyr ewes, poor sorts, from 4« lid, 5s lOd to 7s 6d; cull lambs to 4s 6d; 3iyr bullocks to £6 ss; fat cows, £5 Is to. £5 6s; fat heifers to £5 Is; store cows, £2 2s 6d, £3, £3 10s to £3 17s 6d for more forward sorts; cows with calves at foot to £4 12s 6d; springing heifers to £5 10s; young bUlrs, £2 10s.
