MEETING OF COMMITTEE
.'-.Thte monthly meeting bf the. Committee of the Master ton Borough Council' was held last evening, there being present:' His Worship the 4 ' Mayor (Mr J. M. Coradme), Crs. W. Morris, J. Prentice, J. C. Ewington, W. Pragnell, T. G. Hoar, F. W. Temple, and J. Elliott. Mr C. A. Pownall, Borough Soli'.oitor, wrote applying for £SO to | oari-y out the dedication of some land j used in the widening of Smith Street | belonging t to Mr James Bjilpitt.— .! The amount was passed. The Very Rev. Dean MoiKenrini applied for' permission touaetife Dixon 'Street 'baths on the 17th inst. tobold the annual swimming 1 ' sports oF St. Patrick's school.— Permission was granted. A letter was received from the Marine- Department, .forwarding a copy of the Harbour Amendment Act, 1910, and three copies of an Order in Council making regulation, s for the election of members of Harbour Boards, together with three ! copies of an Order in Council ap- ; pointing the principal authorities in the case of combined districts. The Mauterton Council has been appointed} tile -principal authority' for the Counties of Wairarapa South, Masterton, Pahiatua, Akitio, Eketahuna, ' Mauriceville, Castlepoint,. and Fea- | therston, the? Town. Districts of Feaj'ftherston ! iarid : V: and I the' Boroughs of Greytown, Carterton, Masterton, Eketahuna, and Pahiatua.
The Mayor stated that Mr R. Brown had been appointed returning ofliMK- for the Harbour Board 1 election, and he applied for a small imprest grant for travelling expenses.* - ■•-v ■
It was resolved that £lO be granted,; and ftti*ther advances on the applicatioiof the retui-ning ofEcer. • Masterton South' Bra|ss Barid was ftttftted permission to" hold, a saoi ( ed concert on; the 16th of April. Amounts amounting to £76 9s 3d wfcfo passed for payment.
