"FAKING" OF SHEEP.
The discussion which has been proceeding in the columns of the Age on the question of the alleged "faking" of sheep, has created widespread interest among the farming community. Whatever may be the outcome of this discussion, it is certain that the ventilation of the subject will be attended with beneficial resuLta. Opinions differ so much upon the question of what cons'titii'ti-vs "faking" that it is difficult to arrive at a- satisfactory conclusion. Everybody is agreed that "faking," deliberately practised with a view to misleading the public, should, be sternly suppressed. The point at issue is where .the line should bo drawn between 'the proper -preparation of sheep for show purposes and the adoption of extreme methods which may be described .as ''faking." It has been urged by one settler that stipendiary judges should be appointed. Th-:so, however, would be useless unless "faking" were clearly denned.
