GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING.
jUio general comm-ttee of tile literary Competitions society met last night. There was a large attendance of members, and Mr G. OR. Sykes occupied the chair. Mrs Montague, of Wellington, was appointed accompanist subject to the rules. The test pieces, both musical ana 1 elecutiomiry, suggested by Dr Uradshaw were approved subject to isome alteration® suggested by a programme sub-committee. It was decided thaifc all prizes be in kind except with regard to the choirs. Messrs McLeod and Youing were authorised to procure the necessary test pieces, and tlie program-mo committee was authorised to make arrangements for printing and publishing a book of words. The maxi-. mum amount of prizes was fixed at £l2O, to be allocated by a small sub-committee. The next meeting of the general •committee is to be held .on Tuesday, 14th inst.
