A BIG PROGRAMME.

PARIS, February 25. The Chamber of Deputies, by 461 votes to 76, authorised the construction of two 23,500-ton battleships. M. Decasse, Minister for War, stated that the programme provided for the construction of a permanent fleet oi twenty-eight battleships, with an age limit of twenty years. The fleet is estimated to cost over £54,000,000, and the period of construction will be spread over ten years.
