'.';':' -TURrNQTis. . ■ ... (By "Zetland.") './' Aimwell is a greatly improved horse of late, and his two wins at Woodville this week were full of merit. ' B\ Higgott mad© a good purr chase when he secured the SoulfcGladys May gelding. \ Mahomet, a, winnT of note in the show rings, was racing at Woodville oh Tlmrsday.under the name! of Kohupatiki. He got away badly, and found the pace much too fast for him.
Tulloch Ard seems to have.lightened up lately, and was not in his best form at Woodville this week. The Auckland sprinter, Turbine, who met- with an accident on Boxing Bay, has been put - into work again, and l is expected to be ready for Easter racing. One of the finest colts seen- out this season is St. Bees, by St. Am-brose-Marlin. He is owned by; Mr* Wire Pawene, of Naumai fame, and promises to be a really good one. ! With more substance than the majority of the St. Amibrose' stock, he ■has also plenty of quality. At Woodville his week he was very playful in the bird-cag and . gave evidence of not. having done a thorough preparation; but should be capable of showing, winning' form very soon. Nominations for the Masterton meeting are due on Friday next. As a number of horse boxes are already ordered it would appear that numerous entries are probable. Danube and. Birkdale are in iav* our for the Wanganui Cup to be run next week, while Dearest, Grladiole and Madam Madcap are the popular fancies for the Flying Handicap. Mr G. D. Greenwood will be represented at Wanganui by Vic. Admiral, Peirene, and Miss Mischief.
