The young Australian soprano,. is a favourite througliout the Domini': ion, and her«departure to participate further in Continental grand-opera will he watched with much interest. Miss Castles will leave Auckland "on, 10th April, eh route for Italy and • fhe Continent- The Southern portion of her tour up to the present has been one of continued successes, 1 and at Duuedin an extra recital Was j given, whilst in Christchurch the' J attendance for three nights' 1 con- j certs constituted a,' new record in hooking for,' Christchurch, Miss Castles is capably ; supported ;by Herr Louis Hattenbacli,, a 'cellist whose playing is said to be masterly; His accompaniments to Miss Castles' rendering of Braga's Serenata and other numbers are said to further enhance their artistic merit. Herr Alexander Camphausen, baritone, has a European reputation, having-appeared in Royal grand opera in Berlin, Hamberg, Dresden, and Leipzic; while Mr William Conway, the pianist, is a talented Australian. These artists are making their first appearance in New Zealand. Miss Castles will give excerpts from "Madame Butterfly," thus recalling her las;b visit. Miss Castles is reported hy Southern critics to be in even better voice than during her last tour here with grand opera. • .
