AN ALLEGED DUEL BRITON AND GERMAN. (Received February 15, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, February 15. Sensational rumours are current regarding an alleged duel between two woolbuyers, an Australian and a German. The story is that a controversy on the Anglo-German question ended in the Briton casting a reflection on the German Empire. The German sought to satisfy his outraged honour by an appeal to arms. He challenged . 'the Australian, who accepted the challenge, though no swordsman. A fulldress meeting was arranged '-• for a lonely spot in Centennial Park, Four swords and two seconds were provided. The German drew first blood, wounding his opponent in the arm, The Australian, becoming heated, forgot the rules; wielded! the blade with both hands, and/succeeded in f wounding the German in the arm. Honour being satisfied, the combat ended. Names are freely "mentioned, but the Briton ridicules the story.
