Massey,, Leader of - the Opposition, .claimed £2OOO damages for libel from the New Zealand Times Company, was concluded in the Supreme Court this afternoon. After briefly reviewing the evidence, Mr Justice Chapman put the following issues to the jury:— 1. Was Mr Massey described in ; the cartoon? 2. Did the cartoon, impute to \hirn that he,had been, despite his * disclaimer, connected with the distribution of the scurrilous pamphlet ? 3. If piaintiff had made out hio case, was he entitled'to''damages on one or other of these charges!' After a retirement of two hours and a half, the jury returned the following answers:— 1. We ars of opinion that the figure represents Mr Massey. 2.
