SAD DROWNING CASE.
AT THE IX>\VER HUTT. ■ ■'>'•'A painful, sensation ■> was caused the many friends of Dr Purdy on Saturday morning when it .became 1 ; known that the body of his wife had been found in the Hutt 'River, which flows past the, back of the. family residence at Lower Hutt.. Mrs Purdy retired about midnight ,on EViday, and, when Dor Purdy awakened at 5.30 in the morning she ..was not in the room. Not hearing ,her moving about, he "got up, and, on entering .the dining room, found a note on a table. Dr Purdy and Ms son went to the river, and on the bank found* a wrapper,, shoes, and some articles of clothing A little lower down they discovered the body lying in 9in of water, dressed, only in night-clothes.: Life was extinct. Mrs .Purdy was -in, gdod health, and had, only recently; returned from a three months' holiday in- Australia. At the inquest- yesterday, a verdict of by drowning whilst, .temporarily of unsound mind" was returned. "
