At the last election Dannevirkei narrowly escaped going over, to the enemy. That is to say, the sitting\ member (Mr Charles Hall) only sue-, ceeded in beating Mr George Hunter by thirty, votes. Dannevirke is Holding its. agricultural 'show ith'is week", and,- to boom the gathering, •it was sought to obtain, among cither distinguished persons, the presence of the Scottish Commissioners. The Hon. T. Mackenzie was communicated with on the subject, and his reply is being published "Yes, the Commissioners have' pr 6" .; "mised ito . visit the Dannevirke "show. Mr Charles Hall made a "special request for recognition ofi' "the show on part of the 1 Govern'toent.".' Now, se# what Danne-; virkehas got by returning a Government member! jL-fesumably had Mr H"unteri 'been elected instead of Mr Cliarles Hall, the .show would not have been recognised, and the Scottish Commissioners would have passed Iby on the other side. Yes, Mr Charles Hall did it! -
