The pick of Wellington swimmers are to. compete with our local men, whom we feel sure, judging by the consistent training of late, will give a good account of themselves. Mr Shields (New Zealand Consul), and Mr Hill (Chairman of the Centre and of the Life-saving Society), will also pay us a visit. The 220 yards Wairarapa Championship will be the principal' event of the day, and with such swimmers as Healy, Roberts, Brice, Stranger, 'Miller, Carmine, and others, is siu'o to provide an , exciting finish. TliQ ladies' race will also prove of more than passing interest. The numerous side events will tend to break the monotony. Complete arrangements have been made to enable the public to distinguish events, note the- 6 '.-stances, and to learn the ' result;, .vae programmes are so mark>,i til at everyone' will be able to fallow the races with icore than under the supervision cf Miss Pickering, will be dispensed in a large marquee near the lake. A good move has 'been made by tlio Club in arranging with iki Miramar Fireworks Company to take charge of the evening ■eatertainiucnt.
