Fireman R. Smith lias been appointed delegate from the local Fire Brigade to the conference to be held at Hokitika in March. The team to compete at the Demonstration is:— E., H.j and N. McKenzie, F. At a meeting of the combined committee of the Wairarapa United Frbndly Societies, on Thursday evening, a credit balance of £l2 was reported from the recent picnic. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded ujJ who had helped to make the function a success. The Carterton aud Clareville Tennis Clubs met in a friendly game at Clareville on Thursday afternoon, the former winirng by 708 points t-o 628.
