RAILWAY SERVANTS.
is an abundance of evidence j the railway service of -New Zea- { land is in a very unsatisfactory condition. The men appear,to. confidence in their superiors. They make requests 'for-' the;' redress of grievances time ;after time,* and these ate treated with ' silent contempt.. The Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants is one of the strongest organisations in the Dominion. The Minister, however, seems to have discovered a convenient method of minimising its influence. He is encouraging the splitting up of the Union, so that it will not have the strength in numbers which it formerly essed. This is an old political dodge, which not infrequently succeeds.' Future developments are .being watched with absorbing interest by quite a large section of the; community.
