FREE USE OF TOWN HALL.
BY MEMBERS OF TRUST LANDS TRUST. MR ROBINSON WISHES TO SPEAK. Mr H. C. Robinson applied to the Trustees, at last night's meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust, for permission to use the Town Hall free of charge some data before the closing of the Trust electoral roll. He stated that he desired to speak on Trust matters before the 31st of January, when the rolls closed. He thought the Trustees should have the right to use the Town Hall for such a purpose. Mr Eton considered that the Trustees should pay for the hall at the same rate as any other local man would do. He moved that Mr Robinson be granted the.use of the hall subject to the payment of the usual fee. Mr Pragnell seconded the motion, stating that if a Trustee was allowed free use of the hall, every candidate for any public office would demand the .same right. He considered the request an outrageous impertinence. ,Mr Caselberg moved as an amendment that Mr Robinson be granted the use of the hall, subject to the payment of the gas bill, for ,the purpose of speaking on Trust. matters.. The mover held that it was in the interests of the Trust'to have its work told from a public platform, and thought it would be better to pay any member a guinea for doing so, instead ,of charging him. Mr Krahagen seconded the amendment. Mr Daniell was strongly in favour of allowing Mr Robinson free use of the hall. - - ' : The amendment was carried.
