j An exciting game of bowls for the | Dixon Cup and Taskor Badges was , played? at Pahiatua on 'Saturday the Mauawatu Standard), when
Messrs Adams, Sutclift'e, Martin and Turner (skip), representing Terrace 12nd, were successful in wresting the Cup from the holders, Messrs Hughes, Ransome, Meßra tney, and Wakemau (skip). Twenty-one heads were played, the game toeing | keenly contested throughout. On the 20th head Pahiatua rose to the occasion and scored 5. This made the scores 20 all with the final head to play. At this stage the excitement was intense, each player putting in all he knew. Pahiatua having the lead, put iip a good average length for the jack, and were laying the shot with one bowl to be played by Turner, who sent up a beauty and rested the shotj a measure hav'ng. to be used to detect the' winning bowl, which proved to be the winning shot for Terrace End by the shade of an inch. A feature oj the game*'was that not one driving* shot was played, each ! skip drawisffg to the jack every time.
