SUDDENLY ROLLS OVER.

(Received January 9, 1 p.m.) LONDON, January 8,

The ship Ardenoraig, with a cargo of wheat from Melbourne, went ashore during a fog at the Scilly Islands.

She afterwards suddenly rolled over and foundered in view of a largo crowd on the shore.

The crew had hardly taken to the boats, and they were afterwards saved. *

Watchers on the Scilly Islands saw the Ardencraig " drifting ov-;>-the foreyards and aback. An hour later she rolled over to port and foundered. A sensation was occasioned ashore, until the boats were alongside. ~

Captain Dunning states that Le thought he was twenty miles from the Scilly Islands, when in reality he was only three miles. When the ship came off the rocks there was nine feet of water in the hold, and he decided to abaiidon her, as it was impossible to vessel.

(The Ardencraig was an iron vessel of 2153 tons gross, built in 1886 by Russell and Co., Greenock. She was owned by Crawford and Rowat, and her dimensions were: Length, 277 ft Gin; breadth, 40ft;.depth, 24ft 9in.)
