MAURICEVILLE SPORTS.
The weather was fine and there was a large attendance at the Mauriceville sports on Monday, and Mr C. Brooks, the secretary, had things well in hand. The refreshment booth was conducted by Mr Koigard and did a good business. The fruit stall also did a flourishing trade under the guidance of Mr Fisher. Mr Ben Brodie, of Masterton, had charge of the soft drinks booth, and all seemed to be doing a flourishing business. The results of tho sports were as follows : 100 Yards (professional). —W. E. •.Wilson 1, W. J. White 2, E. W, Miller 3. Boys' Race (under 16). —W. Fisher 1, F. Franklin 2, T. Peterson 3. 100 Yards Handicap (amateur).—R. Messenger 1, G. Holder 2, G. Scrimgeour 3. Light Weight Wrestling, 11 stone and under. —V. Billington 1. There were four competitors. Mauriceville Handicap, 220 Yards. W. E. Wilson 1, K. Welsh 2, W. J. White 3. Ladies' Nail Driving Competition. —Mrs Morgan 1, Mrs Jacobsen 2. Amateur Handicap, 220 Yards. —R. Messenger 1, G. Holder S. Hop, Step and Jump.—W. E. Wilson 1, 41ft 2in; R. Welsh 2, 39ft lOin. Ticket Race. —W. J. White 1. Tilting the Ring.—T. Wyeth 1, G. Jackson 2. \ Amateur Handicap, 880 Yards. —E. Hall 1, L. E. Baxter 2, G. Holder 3. Married Women's Race. Mrs Hoply 1, Mrs Braggins 2. Mauriceville Handicap, 440 Yards. —W. E. Wilson 1, F. Kilminster.
Mauriceville Handicap, 880 Yards. F. Kilminster 1, M. A. Arnit 2. The Points Prize for professionals was won by W. E. Wilson, and for amateurs by R. Messenger.
