FIRES.
TIMBER YARD AFLAME
Bu Telegraph—Press Association. TIMARU, December 26. At 3 p.m. to-day a fire was discovered in the Westland Timber Company's yards on the beach. It appears to have started in an outhouse, from which the mill buildings on one side and the timber stacks on the other caught fire. . The brigade was successful in confining the fire within smail limits, but several hundred pounds' worth of damage was done.
CIIIIISTCHURCH OUTBREAKS. ]})/ Telearaph —Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH. December 25. The fir© brigade had three calls, one last night, and two early this morning. An unoccupied five-roomed house in Addington was totally destroyed at 3.55 a.m. to-day. The insurances were not available. At 4.10 a.m. to-day a fire was discovered in a five-roomed dwelling in St. Albans occupied by T. Poulter, who, with his family, were absent at the time. The front portion of the building was damaged. The State Office has a risk of £lO5 on the building. THE DUNE DIN BLAZE. By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIX, December 24. Tho Otago A. and P. Society decided this morning to reconstruct the Agricultural Hall without c-'.elay, and to modernise it in every way. ACCOMMODATION HOUSE BURNT. Bu Telegraph—Press Association. GISBORNE, December 24. Bissett's store and accommodation house at Waimata Valley was destroyed by fire last night.
