RATES OF THRESHING.

ASHBURTON, Last Night. At a representative meeting of threshing mill owners here this afternoon to discuss the increase of threshing rates in view of an award made in favour of tho North Canterbury Threshing Workers' Union by the Arbitration Court in September, 1912, it was decided that the following rates be fixed for the coming season, conditionally that mill owners .are not compelled to pay a eaok:—Wheat and barley, £l2 10s per thousand bushefs ,and £l3 per thousand for Tuscan; £'h, 8s 4d and £ll 9s 2d per thousand bushels of oats on light and heavy land respectively. It was also decided to get an interpretation of the clause referring to a cook, and if it is ascertained that the cook is not ,to be paid on the co-operative principle, another meeting is to be held to further raise the rates of threshing.
